All graduate students at NDSU are members of the Graduate Student Association and we hope everyone will get involved.  We are your official representative voice at NDSU.
 
If you have any issues that you would like to bring to the GSA feel free to either use the online web-form or send an email to info@ndsugsa.com.  The Graduate Student Association meets regularly and we encourage all graduate students to attend our meetings. Graduate Student Association Executive Position Openings

The Graduate Student Association is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for all executive positions within the association. In accordance with our constitution and bylaws all positions open each year and graduate students are allowed to apply and run for positions.
 
Executive positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Executive Council, and Committee Chairs.  Please see http://www.ndsugsa.com/content/positions for a description of these positions.
 
Elections for these positions will be held on Wednesday, April 28th at 2:00pm at our bi-weekly meeting in the Student Activities Office, Memorial Union.  If you would like to apply please fill out the application at http://www.ndsugsa.com/gsa-application-2010

Graduate Students' Picnic

Sunny days are finally here and it's time to enjoy them.  Come and join your fellow graduate students at the GSA picnic in Trollwood park (3664 Elm Street N, Fargo, ND 58102) on Thursday, May 6 from 6pm - 10:00 pm.  This is a pot-luck picnic - so bring whatever food or beverages you like and we'll all share what we bring.  Grilling facilities are available.  Spouses/partners/friends and children are welcome to come and join in on the fun.  There will be frisbee, volleyball, badminton, and other fun games to play.  Don't miss this last chance to have fun with your fellow graduate students before the term ends.

Graduate Assistant Openings

Your Graduate Student Association is pleased to inform you of the following upcoming events. These events are either sponsored by the GSA or may be of interest to graduate students.
 
Graduate Student Round Table with Student Body President and Vice President Candidates Justin Sherlock and Robert Vallie -- Thursday April 1st, 3pm-5pm in the Peace Garden Room, Memorial Union.
At this round table event the candidates will be discussing topics of interest to graduate students including health insurance, graduate stipend levels, and other graduate concerns. The candidates are excited to hear perspectives and concerns of graduate students at NDSU.  Graduate students may come and go anytime during the 3pm-5pm round table event.
 
Karaoke Night -- Friday April 2nd, 8:00pm at Divas and Rockstars (GSA Sponsored).
Tired of grading papers and exams? Need to take a break? Come out and join your fellow grad students for an evening of fun and entertainment at Divas and Rockstars. You can sing your heart out or simply just enjoy the company of friends. We'll be meeting on Friday, April 2nd starting at 8pm.

Graduate Town Hall Meeting -- Monday April 12th, 10am in the Prairie Rose Room, Memorial Union (GSA Sponsored).
Having an issue you cannot solve or a question you would like an answer to?  Come share your questions, comments, concerns, and suggestions with the Graduate Student Association at our April Graduate Town Hall Meeting.  GSA Members will be present to answer questions and listen to comments and concerns.  If you need help with any issues you are having as a graduate student at NDSU we are here to help.
 
Graduate Research and Arts Forum -- Wednesday April 21st, 10am-2pm in the Prairie Rose Room, Memorial Union (GSA Sponsored).
All NDSU graduate students are invited to present their research, teaching, outreach, or creative endeavors in the 2nd Annual NDSU Graduate Research and Arts Forum on April 21, 2010 in the Memorial Union. This event is being held by the NDSU Graduate Student Association to showcase graduate student contributions to the university and beyond. The poster session will be held from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm with light snacks and refreshments provided throughout.

This event is being held by the NDSU Graduate Student Association to showcase graduate student contributions to the university and beyond.  The poster session will be held from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm with light snacks and refreshments provided throughout.
 

Tuition Waivers Not Currently In Jeopardy

Graduate Students,

At the Open Forum today President Hanson stated that graduate student tuition waivers are not currently in jeopardy.

The Graduate Student Association still plans to meet and discuss tuition waivers and other topics of interest at our upcoming meeting on Wednesday, January 20th at 2PM in the Student Activities Office on the main floor of the Memorial Union.  We encourage all of you to attend.

As these topics continue to evolve we will remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring that the needs of graduate students are heard.  We will also be sure to keep all of you informed of the facts that are made available.  If you have any questions please email the Graduate Student Association at info@ndsugsa.com

Tuition Waivers at NDSU

Graduate Students,
 
President Hanson will be hosting a series of Open Forums, January 13th, January 26th, and February 5th at 10:30AM in the Century Theatre.  We are encouraging graduate students to attend and voice their concerns as appropriate.
 
Additionally, the Graduate Student Association will be meeting on Wednesday, January 20th at 2:00PM in the Student Activities Office on the Main Floor of the Memorial Union to discuss the status of tuition waivers.

Tuition Waiver Cuts?

Recent emails, news articles, and discussions have surfaced in regards to cutting tuition waivers at NDSU.  These findings are of concern to many graduate students at NDSU.
