Over the past several years there has been much discussion at NDSU regarding limiting smoking on campus. Within the past year a smoking ban has been implemented on campus that limits smoking outdoors within 50ft of buildings.
Discussions continue and there is currently talk about a full campus smoking ban within several groups on campus. Student Government recently passed a resolution to put a smoking ban on the ballot. However, the resolution was overridden by the President of the Student Body.
Additionally, there is talk within the State Board of Higher Education about banning all tobacco products on all public college campuses within the state.

Smoking Ban Update
Just to provide an update. A new piece of legislation was approved to be placed on the ballot. Students will be able to vote on the issue in May. More details will be provided as they become available.
